He is a leading exponent of interventional endoscopy, particularly ERCP. His practice offers a full range of liver services from abnormal liver functions through to viral hepatitis, Hepatitis B and C and hepatocellular carcinoma. He is a national opinion leader in liver disease and has appeared on the Tonight Programme on ITV, Channel 5 News and NBC Television, and contributed to national newspaper articles and The Big Issue highlighting liver diseases. ![]() ![]() He has also acted as clinical advisor for NICE on drugs for viral hepatitis. He is immediate past General Secretary of the British Association for the Study of the Liver (BASL) and Chaired the NICE cirrhosis GDG, which published the guidelines for the management of patients with cirrhosis across the UK. He is a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians in London and Edinburgh.ĭr Harrison is a well-respected author and lecturer, and who is a globally renowned Hepatologist with a worldwide patient base. Additionally, he is a member of the Medical Advisory Committee and Senior Management Team, and Medical Governance lead at London Bridge Hospital. He has worked as Consultant Hepatologist at Kings College Hospital since 1994 and joined London Bridge Hospital in 1996. He was awarded MD by the University of London in 1992 for work demonstrating the benefit of N-acetylcysteine in liver failure and PhD in molecular and cell biology in 1997. Dr Phil Harrison qualified in 1984 (BSc and MBBS) and trained in Hepatology at King’s College Hospital, London and Addenbrooke’s Hospital, Cambridge. ![]()
